The regular monthly board meeting of the Grant Soil and Water Conservation District will be held Monday, September 21, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the NRCS Building, Suite C; 3082 32nd Steet Bypass; Silver city, NM  88061.   The meeting is open to the public.

High-quality fiber art will fill the Murray Hotel Ballroom in Historic Downtown Silver City during the Fall Fiber Arts Sale held annually by the Southwest Women's Fiber Arts Collective (SWFAC). There is no entrance fee for this event, which will take place at the Murray Hotel, located at 200 West Broadway Street, on Saturday, October 10th from 10am to 5pm and Sunday, October 11th from 10am to 2pm. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to see an amazing range of wearable, useable and displayable fiber art created by local artists.

The two-day fiber arts sale will showcase unique handmade items created by SWFAC members. Event visitors will be able to browse crocheted, knitted, woven, hand-sewn, dyed and painted apparel for adults and children; useable home goods and décor; cards, toys, jewelry, and rugs; handwoven towels, shawls, scarves and pillows; hand painted natural fibers and felted items; bags, baskets, lamps, quilted items, linens and much more. 

Weaving for Justice, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that works in solidarity with Maya weaving collectives in Chiapas, Mexico, will join the Fiber Arts Sale again this year. Beautiful handmade brocaded and embroidered woven textiles made by collective members will be available for sale at the organization's booth. The non-profit supports the Maya collectives' efforts to continue living on their ancestral lands in sustainable ways that respect their lands, language (Tsotsil), and traditions

The Kiwanis Club of Silver City is holding a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, September 19th from 8:00 to 11:00 A.M. The breakfast is "All you can eat" and includes: pancakes, sausage, eggs, syrup, butter, whipped cream, juice, coffee and tea. The cost is $10.00 per person with kids 5 years and under for free. Come to the Kiwanis building located at 900 Silver Heights Blvd. in Silver City. Proceeds benefit the youth of Grant County to promote service leadership skills. See you there!
