Light Art Space Art Reception this Friday, November 7th, 5 pm– 7 pm. Please join us in celebrating two new exhibitions during the First Friday Downtown Gallery Walk.
The North gallery presents "How Did I Get Here From There" by Diane Kleiss. Diane, one of Silver City's premier artists, paints and sculpts with beeswax, an ancient encaustic medium that she pours, carves, and molds. In her series "Flights of Fancy", Diane explores her interest in ravens, inspired by their intelligence and curiosity. Drawing from cultural myths about women flying, as well as her own dreams, she created a three-part sculpture called "When Women Were Birds." Her work continually follows new inspirations, guided by her passion. November 7 through November 15, 2025, with an opening held on Friday, November 7, from 5 to 7 pm.
Melissa Clayton, Director of New Mexico Borderland Animal Rescue Coalition
(NM BARC) will speak to Rotary at noon Tuesday on the subject of animal rescue.
NM BARC is a 100% volunteer-driven rescue dedicated to animal welfare in rural southwestern New Mexico. Its mission is to rescue domestic dogs and cats, provide public education on animal care and safety, and collaborate with other organizations to support animals and their guardians.
Melissa's focus has been on creating protocols, processes, and databases for BARC so it can increase animal intake. She also established a foster program for cats, and soon for dogs.
