WNMU Offers Escape Room Fun for the Public; Supports Students Food Security

J. Cloyd Miller Library, AV2Room, the Mystery of the Missing Professor Escape Room by the Tutor Center. 

The students, faculty and staff at WNMU have enjoyed the escape room as part of fall festivities; now it's the public's turn. Have fun and donate to the One Stop to help students gain food security, especially over the holidays. Drop by October 26 to experience the escape room and solve the problem of the "missing professor." 

The public may also make direct monetary donations for the food drive.  Easily make an online donation.

In the Telling: A Poetry Reading by Larry Olliver

Larry considers himself a poet of place, his work is rooted in the natural surroundings. He focuses on the specificities of bird and animal life, the plants and their life phases as the circle of the seasons turns, the complex, infinitely beautiful workings of the cosmos. There's a little philosophy, even a bit of politics, all wrapped up in immediate personal experience. The natural surroundings are the heart and substance of his creative -- and spiritual -- practice.

Silver City Poetic Outlaws is a recurring open mic event focused on the spoken word. Poetry, readings from stories and books, monologue, improv...all forms of spoken word are welcome.

An NMBARC team will discuss the history, mission, and work of NMBARC to establish No Kill in southwest New Mexico and beyond. NMBARC is not an animal shelter, it has a network of volunteers who foster animals until they can be adopted. Finding Your Center with Cordelia Rose is every Wednesday starting September 16 from 1:30--3:00PM. Join us for a 90-minute class that begins with pranayama and just sitting in the present moment. Gentle asana follows, warming up the muscles and easing the joints while keeping the mind calm. Asanas vary from class to class, but follow a rhythm starting with sun salutations and continuing through seated, supine, prone and standing to inverted asanas. The class winds down with pranayama, savasana with yoga nidra, and closes with hasta mudra, chanted mantra and a moment of seated stillness. OM.
