7th Annual Carnitas Musica Y Mas Fiesta :: Arts & Music

Labor Day weekend.  There is a special event planned for Sunday at noon with a Dance Group called "The Pachucos" from El Paso, TX.  Gough Park will be enclosed and there of course will be the street closures with Security.  We will have both food and non-food vendors and a Beer Garden.  As a reminder per City Ordinance, only service dogs will be allowed and no bikes (bicycles) or skateboards will be allowed.

Eighteen studios with 21 artists  will be opening up their private creative spaces from Wind Canyon to  greater downtown Silver City and out to Hurley.  The annual Labor Day Red Dot Studio Tour features the Silver City Art Association Studio members. The event  begins on August 21 with a preview art exhibit at Light Art Space, 209 West Broadway Street, Silver City NM. Stop by, see artwork from each studio, and pick up a Red Dot Studio Tour guide. For your convenience and tour planning, the guide is broken into two maps, "Outlying Studios" and "Greater Downtown Studios".

Tai Chi is an evidence-based movement practice that improves strength, balance and well-being. This particular form was created at the University of Oregon to address the specific needs of older adults and others with poor balance and diminished strength. The form itself consists of only 8 basic movements, which are gentle and relaxing. We also do breath work (Qi Kung), stretching, and other movements to enhance general health. Wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes (like tennis shoes).

This particular form was created at the University of Oregon to address the specific needs of older adults and others with poor balance and diminished strength. The form itself consists of only 8 basic movements, which are gentle and relaxing. We also do breath work (Qi Kung), stretching, and other movements to enhance general health. Wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes (like tennis shoes).
