VerdugoSalazar1With broken hearts and great sorrow, we announce the passing of our precious baby boy, Joachim A. Verdugo-Salazar.

Joachim was born at El Paso Children's Hospital in El Paso, TX on June 29, 2023 and passed away peacefully in the arms of his mother and maternal grandparents Ricardo and Maria on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, TX.

Joachim was the beloved son of Yazmin S. Verdugo and Jaime A. Salazar.

He is survived by his parents Yazmin and Jaime; maternal grandparents, Ricardo Verdugo, and Maria Snyder Verdugo; paternal grandfather, Gilbert Salazar and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents Lorenzo and Longina Verdugo and Carlos and Olga Snyder; paternal great-grandparents Jose and Bertha Salazar as well as many uncles and aunts.

Even though Joachim had a short life, we were blessed to have had two wonderful years with him. During his two years, he touched many lives. Joachim battled many medical challenges for 2 years with a resilience that inspired all who knew him. He brought great joy to our lives with his sweet smile and bright eyes. We will forever love and cherish his memories.

VerdugoSalazar2A viewing will begin on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 9:30am till 10:15am at The Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Las Cruces. The recitation of the holy rosary will follow at 10:15 with Gloria Vigil officiating. The Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 11 with the rite of committal and interment to follow at Masonic Cemetery. Fr. Alejandro Reyes, Pastor will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston. We are grateful for their help and support they provided during our 22-month stay in Houston, TX.
