It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Guadalupe Salinas, affectionately known as Lupe and Lupita. Our mother passed away in the early morning of Monday, August 18, 2025, at Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces. She was surrounded by her loving family and died peacefully with her daughter by her side.
On December 5th, 1958, Lupe was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Guadalupe R. Salinas and Filomena Salinas. As a small child, her family moved to her forever home in Deming, NM. Lupe worked for 18 years at Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Aid and continued her caregiving duties as a home health aide until her retirement. She dearly loved her work and her clients. Lupe was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. Throughout her life, she was an avid reader and loved listening to audiobooks. In recent years, she had found new friends at the Deming Senior Center. Thank you to her "family" at the Deming Senior Center for making our mother feel loved and welcomed.
Lupe is preceded in death by her parents Guadalupe R. Salinas and Filomena Salinas; her son, Manuel "Nano" Gallosa Jr.; ex-husband, Manuel Jesus Gallosa; grandson, Duane Anthony Vasquez; brother-in-law, Raymond Cordova, and sister-in-law, Dolores "Doe" Sanchez-Salinas.
Lupe is survived by four siblings Matilda Cordova of Las Cruces, NM, Jose Jaime Salinas (wife, Lorayna) of Deming, NM, Juan Salinas (wife, Yuri) of Las Cruces, NM, and Leticia Moreno of Deming, NM. She is survived by her daughter Ruby Vasquez (husband, Duane) of Las Cruces, NM; son, Gabriel Gallosa of Las Cruces, NM, and son, Jose Alejandro Marquez (wife, Diana) of Deming, NM. She left behind twelve grandchildren, Manuel III, Jesaca, Ysabela, Ysenia, Samantha, Miranda, Isaiah, Aidan, Fabian, Vanessa, Yasmeli, and Yalexi, and one great-grandchild, Ysabela Rodriguez.
Serving as pallbearers are Gabriel Gallosa, Jose Alejandro Marquez, Isaiah Gallosa, Adrian Cordova, Duane Vasquez, and Lorena Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Julian Salinas, Miranda Vasquez, Vanessa Marquez, Yasmeli Marquez, Yalexi Marquez, and Aidan Gallosa.
Our family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by Mesilla Valley Hospice Center during our mother's final days.
We will miss our historian who always knew the names and birthdays of family members. Tia Angie will miss your long phone conversations, and Aidan will miss your warm hugs. Rest in Peace, Mom. Your heart has touched so many and your love will always live on.
A viewing for Lupe will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 9:30am till 10:30am at Baca's Funeral Chapel with the recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow. The Mass of Chistian burial will then be celebrated at 11:30am at St. Ann Catholic Church followed by the rite of committal and interment at Mt. View Cemetery. Fr. Tony Basso will officiate.
