McDonaldTroy"A cowboy never says goodbye; it's not in his nature..." Just like the cowboy he was, Troy Edward McDonald did not say goodbye on the afternoon of Friday, August 15, 2025, when he unexpectedly passed away at his home.

Many remember Troy from high school for his vehicles, the roller rink, and, as one friend shared with our daughter, a bit of a heartthrob. Others recall him from his time with American Auto Electric, a mechanic shop located on Pinos Altos Road/12th St., near Dairy Queen. His nephews and their friends fondly remember him as their football coach. SHS band trips with Justine. Cosmic Bowling with Tyler, Tory, and Raelynn. Golfing with Tony. The Flame, where he met his wife, Mary Rae. No matter where they remember him from, all remember Troy as a good man—always ready to lend a hand and incredibly skilled at fixing vehicles and solving tricky problems.

Troy was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed an ice-cold beer after work and on weekends. Affectionately called "Bubba" by his family, he absolutely loved his children and grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes was cuddling with his wife while watching a good movie. Troy enjoyed travelling to see the grandchildren and visiting historic venues like the Alamo.

Troy is survived by his cherished wife, Mary Rae McDonald; his three wonderful daughters: Justine McDonald (Matthew) of Amarillo, TX; Tory Brown (Brent) of Helena, MT; and Raelynn Aimee; his son, Cody McDonald; and five grandchildren: Ryder, Sawyer, Lincoln, Louie, and Quinn. He is also survived by his two sisters: Terri Perez of Deming, NM, and LeAnn McDonald, OK; as well as nephews and a niece whom he loved like his own children: Arturo "Tony" Sosa (Chelsea), Steven Gonzalez (Bethanie), Jessie Perez (Alejandra); Jessica Perez, Tyler Gonzalez (Kristina), and Anthony Perez (Jacqueline). He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Virginia Lee McDonald, and his granddaughter, Zoey Brown.

As per Troy's wish, he will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
