On Wednesday, August 6, the Grant County Republican Party held a Meet and Greet for gubernatorial candidate Gregg Hull at the Cross Point Church. He wanted to meet with the people of Grant County to introduce himself.

Hull was elected in 2014 to be mayor of Rio Rancho and then re-elected twice after that which makes him the city's longest serving mayor. He believes that his policies have made the city one of the safest and most successful in New Mexico, and they can be applied statewide.

People who work in Santa Fe now live in Rio Rancho because it's the safest city in NM. Hull has done that by a combination of increasing the police force and having zero tolerance for violent criminals. And that is with Albuquerque next to it.

How to Refresh an Aquifer

ne of the things Hull is proud of is the Aquifer Injection Project. It takes storm runoff and treated water from the sewage plant, re-treats it until it's potable water, then injects it into the highest ground in Rio Rancho. As the water percolates through the sedimentary rock, it is again cleansed.

This refreshing the aquifer insures that Rio Rancho will have long-term water resources. Hull says it won't reach the city's wells for another 15 years, but does insure that the city will have water in the future to fuel its growth.

Rio Rancho is the fastest growing city in New Mexico. When Hull became mayor, the city had a population of 89,000 and now it's 118,000. It has been named the 2nd most affordable town in NM.

The Governor's race has seen several politicians decline to run. Lt. Howie Morales, John Block, Crystal Diamond Brantley, and Nella Dominici have all announced they are not running.
