Sock Hop for Social Justice
Saturday, September 24, 2022, 06:00pm - 09:00pm |
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City is hosting a good old-fashioned sock hop on Saturday, September 24, from 6 to 9 pm, at the UU Fellowship Hall at 3845 N. Swan Street in Silver City.
Live music by Joey & the Cruisers, Silver City’s premier (and probably only!) oldies but goodies rock ’n’ roll band - with Joey “I Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Pompadour” Neri handling the vocals, Davey “The Fretboard Wizard” Zaborac pyroteching on his Paul Stanley signature guitar, Ricky “I Am Vintage 1941” Spiegel holding down the bottom end on bass, and Teddy “Don’t Call Me Chainsaw” Whittemore banging on his drums.
There’ll be refreshments, too. Period attire is not required but definitely encouraged.
$10 is the suggested donation, with all proceeds going to the UU Social Justice Committee to help fund its support of local food banks and homeless shelters, the Deming and Palomas shelters for refugees and asylum seekers, thank-you meals for COVID first responders, New Mexico women’s health and abortion centers, and much more.
