2023 Fourth of July - Participants Wanted
The Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce is beyond thrilled to announce this year's upcoming Fourth of July celebration. The theme for this year's parade is "Lady Liberty". This event will take place on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023.
We are looking for entries for the 2023 Independence Day Celebration. Parade entries and booth spaces are still available. If you are wanting to participate or volunteer in the Chamber of Commerce Fourth of July event and activities, please reach out to our office. Rural healthcare is a national concern, and it is a critical concern in the Mimbres Valley of Grant County.
To address the issues and an ongoing collaboration that exists in Grant County and beyond, on Monday, June 12, at 5:30 p.m., HMS CEO Dan Otero, DBA, will address rural health challenges and screen the award-winning PBS documentary, The Providers, at HMS’s Mimbres Valley Senior Center. All residents of the Mimbres Valley community and their neighbors are welcome to attend this potentially informative event.
According to the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), a national nonprofit organization that advocates for rural healthcare equity, “obstacles faced by health care providers and patients in rural areas are vastly different from those in urban areas. Economic factors, cultural and social differences, educational shortcomings, lack of recognition by legislators and the sheer isolation of living in remote areas all conspire to create health care disparities and impede rural Americans in their struggle to lead normal, healthy lives.”

Virus Theater is hosting a performance by Santa Fe’s Theater Grottesco at El Sol Theater June 23 & 24. Performances are at 7pm. Tickets are available at the door, $10 adults, $5 students.

The Bayard Public Library is kicking -off summer with a Foam Party! Friday, June 2, 2023 at the Community Center Baseball Field located at 209 Hurley Street Ann Lincoln Entertainment will be blasting foam and fun music from 1:00 pm to 2:30pm. Wear a bathing suit, bring a towel and sunscreen, and join in the fun. Admission is free and for children of all ages. Foam is hypoallergenic and environmentally friendly to people and the grass. The annual First New Mexico Bank Wild Wild West Rodeo is happening June 8, 9, and 10, 2023, with Casper Baca Rodeo Company and the Renegade Rodeo Tour, at the Southwest Horseman's Arena in Silver City.
Tickets are available at Circle Heart Western Wear in Silver City and Circle S Western Emporium in Deming, starting June 5th. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. Gates open at 5 pm with the performances starting at 7 pm. Thursday Night is the Wild Wild West Bull Fest, sponsored by W & N Enterprises. Friday Night is full rodeo action sponsored by Snappy Mart and The Brown Boys at Werner Tire. Saturday Night is another full rodeo night sponsored by Freeport McMoRan and First Financial Credit Union.
