FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE

SATURDAY, MARCH 9, 2024

The Silver City Friends of the Library (FOL) is holding its March Book Sale on Saturday, March 9, at the FOL Bookstore, 1510 Market Street, from 10:00am-2:00pm.

Hardback and trade paperback books are priced at $1.00 each and paperbacks at $0.50 each. In some cases, books may be priced higher. Weather permitting, clearance item sales take place in the FOL parking lot where visitors can purchase a bag of books (special bags are provided in the parking lot) at $2.00 per bag. There is no limit on the number of bags a visitor can buy.

“We recently decided to house our electronic media items in their own room,” Barbara Guber, FOL Bookstore manager, said. “It contains music and audio books on CDs and complete sets of many different Great Courses. A treasure trove of great entertainment and learning offerings, to say the least. We invite everyone to come peruse and choose.”

Guber explained that the children’s DVDs are located on the shelf across from the inside cashier. She pointed out that the other shelves across from the cashier contain “old old” books and other collectibles, all at incredibly reasonable prices.

A spokesperson for the bookstore crew said, “We’ve been 'cleaning house' and rearranging the store to make room for all the terrific donations we have received. Inside the Bookstore you’ll find shelves filled with great collections of fiction arranged by author and non-fiction arranged by category.”

One of the non-fiction rooms is now dedicated to the Southwest and contains an entire section of Native American books.

The Fiction, Historical Fiction, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Young Adult, Horror, Mystery, Thriller, Classics, Literature collections have all been refreshed with new selections but remain in their usual locations within the bookstore.

“Most of the children’s books will be sold in the parking lot,” Guber noted. “Visitors can select as many as they want and purchase them for $2.00/bag.”

The Friends of the Silver City Library invite the public to come and spend a laid-back morning and early afternoon, browsing and finding treasures among its vast collection of books and other media, all donated through the generosity of Grant County residents.

The Friends of the Library accepts donations of books from the public and uses these to raise funds to support the Silver City Library’s programs and activities. Donations can be placed in the Friends of the Library donation bins outside the Silver City Library main door. These are located to the right of the Library’s bin for returning Library books. For further information regarding donations in general or for arranging pickup for large donations, please contact folsilvercitynm@gmail.com  or call 575-538-4940.

Mark your calendars for the 2024 Friends of the FOL book sales on the 2nd Saturday of each odd numbered month. The next sale will be Saturday, May 11, 2024.

And remember, you don’t have to be a member of FOL to attend the sale and purchase books.
