Santa Fe, NM — Today, House and Senate Republican Leadership sent a joint letter to the Governor's Office requesting detailed information about anticipated policy proposals heading into the special legislative session. Contrary to the Governor's claim in her September 4th press release, she has had "discussions with legislative leaders," Republican lawmakers have been completely excluded from conversations leading up to the imminent special session.
The joint letter also asks the Governor to authorize consideration of legislation which Republicans plan to introduce. Unlike those likely to come from Democrats, these Republican policy proposals would address the issues that New Mexicans are actually concerned about, including:
Violent & drug-related crime
• Juvenile crime
• Interstate medical compacts
• Homelessness
• CYFD reform
