Cause: Undetermined, but lightning was detected in the area.

Location: Mt. Taylor Ranger District – Zuni Mountains northwest of Quartz Hill.

Resources on Scene: Firefighters from USFS and NM State Forestry.

Strategy: Full suppression

Fire behavior: Low to moderate.

Situation: Fire crews from USFS and NM State Forestry have responded to the Trail Fire on the Mt. Taylor Ranger District. Forward progression has been stopped at approximately 5 acres. Firefighters will remain on scene to continue improving and securing containment lines.

Fuels: Ponderosa pine litter and dead & down.

Values at risk: The Trail Fire is not a threat to any communities, and there are no evacuations in effect.
