New Mexico State University has launched a national search for the university's athletic director role.

As part of the search process, NMSU is working with the Parker Executive Search firm to identify qualified candidates for the position. The position description for the athletic director role is now available on the Parker website at https://www.parkersearch.com/opportunities/director-of-athletics-12. Applications and nominations can be submitted through the same site.

"As New Mexico State Aggies, we are from the desert and are hardy like the traditions of the West," said NMSU President Valerio Ferme. "We grow fierce competitors who are not afraid to do the difficult work needed to achieve goals that 'punch' above the university's weight and demonstrate the hardiness of the Aggie mentality. We are seeking individuals who enjoy the role of underdogs, both in our conference and on the national stage."

The university has formed a search committee to help review candidate applications. That committee is chaired by Justin Bannister, chief of staff for the NMSU's President's Office. Other members include:

Ammu Devasthali, chair, NMSU Board of Regents

Joe Baffoe, president, Electronic Caregiver

Jason Hooten, head coach, men's basketball

Kathy Rodolph, head coach, softball

Monica Torres, chancellor, NMSU Community Colleges

Vimal Chaitanya, chair, NMSU Faculty Senate

Wyatt Ziehe, president, ASNMSU

Joseph Almaguer, athletic operations manager

The Parker search firm visited the NMSU campus this week to tour NMSU facilities and meet with university leaders, senior athletics staff, head coaches and other stakeholders. Additional listening sessions with NMSU community members will take place in the coming weeks.

Amber Burdge will continue as acting athletic director during the search.
