Almira Holguin Luna, 81, a resident of Hurley, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Desert Peak in Las Cruces, NM. She was born August 29, 1943 to her parents, Miguel and Josepha (Apodaca) Holguin in Santa Rita, NM.
Almira, fondly known as "Wita" will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Any paths she took in life were prioritized by what would be best for her family including her husband Richard, her children and her grandchildren before anything else. Wita would always share many fond stories of living in Elko, NV, memories of her friends, growing up with her siblings, and her relationship with her dear husband Richard who took care of her with the utmost love. Wita had a long career of working in administrative services with the Cobre School District and numerous financial institutions. Involving herself with girl scouts and cheerleading along the way she was a positive role model for all children. Her hobbies included painting ceramics, which she won numerous awards for, and the inner child in her loved to collect dolls. Wita also loved spending time with family friends, listening to music and dancing, going to yard sales, collecting carnival glass and teacups.
Her love, care and sincere heart will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard; her sons, Benny Eric Placencio of Albuquerque, NM and Danny Kirk Placencio (Alisa) of Albuquerque, NM; her step-daughters, Yvette Luna-Bowen (Michael) of El Paso, TX, Yvonne Luna (David Fitzgibbons) of Casa Grande, AZ and Terri Luna of Midway City, CA; her brother Michael Holguin of Silver City, NM; her sister Rufina Gomez (Manuel) of Albuquerque, NM; her five grandchildren, Rambo Placencio Paige Noakes, Christian Noakes, Avery Placencio, Aspen Placencio; her five step-grandchildren, Matthew Luna, Soleil Bowen, Lourdes Bowen, John and Marisa; her eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-son, Richard Joseph Luna Jr; her brothers, Sammy Holguin and Raul Holguin; her sister, Ermalinda Holguin.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11:30am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels, with Pastor Joseph Gros officiating. She will be laid to rest at 1:00pm at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.
