It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Guadalupe Estrada on December 16, 2025. As was her wish, Guadalupe passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones.
Guadalupe was born to Juan and Rosa Contreras on January 9th, 1953, one of eight children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Rosa, and her older brother, Raymond. She is survived by her brothers Joe, John and sisters Juanita, Lydia, Mary and Linda.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 53 years, Edward Estrada, with whom she shared a life of love, laughter, joy, support and in raising their four children: Edward, Jacob, Matthew and Emily. Along with her children, she leaves behind grandchildren Jonathan, Daevian, Aubrianna, Jacob Jr, Chloe, Sophia and Israel.
Guadalupe's love and devotion to her family and friends was unwavering. She would always, with a kind and patient heart. listen to any worries or problems brought to her and spoke in words of sincerity, patience and kindness, alleviating their troubled hearts. Guadalupe kept on her calendar the birthdays of every family member and friend she could manage and could always be counted upon to call them to remind them of their special day and usually by singing the birthday song. Guadalupe worked for a time as a teacher's assistant, and to this day the students she helped to teach and mold lovingly referred to her as Ms. Lupe.
Guadalupe put first the needs of everybody else, making sure even the family pet was fed before sitting down to her own meal. It was with the same kindness that she treated anyone she met, doing her best to make them feel love and comfort and even in the short moments in which she unhesitatingly gave money to those in need. Throughout Guadalupe's home could be seen many cherished pictures and artwork of her loved ones, along with pictures of the many children she helped support through charitable organizations.
Guadalupe's love and devotion to her family and friends could only be matched by her faith and love in God. While living in her hometown of Lordsburg she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. In her regular attendance and help in cleaning the church she came to know and be friends with many of the priests, including Father Jude and all her fellow churchgoers. When she moved to Las Cruces she became a member of Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church, and eventually became a friend to their priest, Father Geno. Guadalupe prayed unshakingly for her family and friends and gave thanks to God every single day, even when diagnosed with the illness that took her.
Guadalupe loved to laugh and be silly, and could find joy and beauty in everything she did; whether it be watching one of her favorite movies or shows, listening to the radio while cleaning around the house, or simply sitting on the porch, taking in the wonder of God's creations. Guadalupe will live on in the hearts and minds of everybody whose lives she touched. Her life of showing love, kindness, compassion, patience, fellowship, charity and faith to everyone she met will be the legacy she leaves behind, along with a world that is better off for her having been in it.
Pallbearers will be her brothers John and Joseph, brother in law Bill and sons Edward, Jacob and Matthew.
Visitation will be Friday December 26, 2025 at 8 o'clock in the morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church where the rosary will begin at 8:30 with Carlos Bejarano leading.
