Raymond Reyes Maynes, Sr., 55, a resident of Roswell, NM., entered eternal rest Sunday, December 21, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 20, 1970 in Silver City, NM to Richard and Yolanda Maynes. Raymond was a hardworking commercial and residential contractor whose life was defined by integrity, dedication, and pride in his work. He gave his best to every project and to everyone he worked with.
Raymond was truly a man with a heart of gold. He loved deeply and unconditionally and was devoted above all to his family. He adored his beloved wife, Sonya, and was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren, who brought him great joy and purpose.
Raymond was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether family, friend, or stranger, he was always ready to lend a hand or offer words of encouragement. His presence made others feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Raymond's legacy is one of love, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Raymond was a man who truly lived and loved life. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and watching football with his children, cherishing the time spent with his family and his dogs, Rayzor and Rayven. Raymond loved the Lord. His faith was the foundation of who he was and had a profound impact on every aspect of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sonya L. Maynes of the family home; his Madrecita, Yolanda Maynes; five sons, Raymond R. Maynes Jr., of Las Cruces, NM; Rocky Maynes (comp. Diamond Soto) of Tyrone, NM.; Vanessa Maynes of Las Cruces, NM.; Faith Maynes (comp. Thomas Lopez) of Santa Clara, NM.; Steven Lucero, Analyssa Maynes (comp. Xebani Rodriguez) of Bayard, NM.; Royce E. Maynes and Rocco I. Maynes of Roswell, NM, twelve grandchildren; five brothers, Deacon Richard Maynes Jr., (Veronica) of Hurley: Reyne Maynes (Melissa) of Santa Clara; Ralph Maynes (Amy) of Omaha, NE; Ret. Major Roman Maynes (Sara) of Carrollton, TX; Daniel Chavez (Marisa) of Los Lunas; two sisters, Anna Marie Sandoval (Lonnie) of Silver City, NM.; Yolanda Maynes (comp. Chad Aguirre Sr.) of Silver City, NM.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Richard R. Maynes Sr., grandparents, and two uncles, Eddie and Ruben Maynes.
The holy rosary being recited by his brother Deacon Richard Maynes Jr. will be on Monday, December 29th at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30th at 10am at Infant Jesus Shrine with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Pallbearers are Richard Maynes, Reyne Maynes, Ralph Maynes, Roman Maynes, Daniel Chavez, and Rocky Maynes. Honorary pallbearers are the rest of his family and friends. Concluding service cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
