Pedro (Peter) Costales Vasquez of Santa Clara, NM, was called home by our Lord and Savior on March 18, 2023, due to complications from open heart surgery at Memorial Medical in Las Cruces. He was born on January 29, 1963, to Francisco (Kico) and Maria (Tundie) Vasquez.
Peter was well known by many and will be greatly missed. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed the kitchen, cooking for his family and friends. You couldn’t say you weren’t hungry because he would serve you anyways. Peter loved spending time with his grandkids, Julian and Keira, playing pool with them out at the carport.

Genevieve Pena, 94, a resident of Silver City, NM

On Monday, March 27, 2023 Genevieve Jaramillo Pena entered eternal rest. She was 94.
She was born in East Los Angeles, California to Antonio and Catarina Jaramillo on July 20, 1928. She was one of seven children. Her siblings include Lorenza, Natalia, Consuelo, Angelina, Pablita, Antonio, and Macedonio. They came to Silver City, built their home, by hand, with adobes they made themselves, at the very top of La Capilla. Genevieve’s life of service began at a young age, tending to her family. She was self-made seamstress and cook.
In the forties, she and her sisters were hired to work on preparing for the railroad. While the able men were off at war, these women were hired to complete this job. Also, she worked at Watt’s Clinic and babysitting to help her family make ends meet.
Betty Ann Kranz, 83, a resident of Silver City, NM

Betty Ann Kranz, 83, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest January 28, 2023 at Sunset Vista in Silver City. She was born December 27, 1939 in Jackson, MN to Elmer and Helen Bresem Erickson.
She is survived by her loving husband Charles Francis Kranz of the family home; one son, Jeffrey John Kranz of Lake City, FL; one daughter, Angela Mony Kranz of Tucson, AZ; one granddaughter, Hillary Kranz; two grandsons, Kyle and Zack Kranz; one great granddaughter, Lilly; one sister, Evon Lee of Oklahoma City; sister in-law, Marge Erickson. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Leland Erickson; brother in-law, Dick Lee.
A Celebration of Life service will be celebrated on Saturday, April 1 at 2pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.

Barbara Lee Nance, 73, a resident of Silver City, NM

Barbara went home to be with Jesus on March 20, 2023 in Silver City, New Mexico. She was born on March 19, 1950 to Annon and Virginia Jorgen in Glendale, California. She was the first born of her parents’ three children
When she was six years old her family moved to Granada Hills, California. Barbara lived in the same house until she left home at the age of 18. She graduated from James Monroe High School in 1968.
In 1976 she married her high school sweetheart, Sherwood Nance. They enjoyed an adventurous life together. They traveled in their RV, rode motorcycles, and owned a swimming pool service business. In addition they worked together creating metal sculptures. Throughout their life they loved their many pet dogs, who truly were their best friends.
Barbara was a brilliant and versatile artist. Mostly self-taught, she excelled at both watercolor and oil painting, stone sculpture, cartooning, and metal works. Her paintings were whimsical and her sculptures were beautifully intricate.
