SILVER CITY, N.M. - After seven years of dedicated service and major milestones, Scott Noble has announced his resignation as Executive Director of Athletics at Western New Mexico University.

During his tenure, Noble oversaw some of the most impactful changes in Mustang Athletics history. From the opening of The Yard, WNMU's premier softball facility, to record-setting academic achievements, his leadership left a lasting mark on the program.

Under Noble's direction, WNMU student-athletes consistently raised the bar academically. In 2024–25 alone, 126 Mustangs earned spots on the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, including 55 with perfect 4.0 GPAs. The department also posted a strong 3.15 cumulative GPA for the spring semester, continuing a trend of academic excellence.

Athletically, the Mustangs made major strides, including the first winning football season in nearly three decades, the first winning men's basketball season in over 15 years, a regional title in men's golf, and a 3rd-place finish in the Lone Star Conference for men's cross country, the program's best. The softball program also celebrated its best season in over a decade. WNMU Athletics also saw a significant budget increase and new scholarships and expanded its coaching and administrative staff to better support its teams.

Dr. Jack Crocker, WNMU Provost and Acting President, stated, "Scott's passion for student athletes' competitive and academic success will be missed. His forceful leadership has laid the groundwork for continued success in the years ahead."
