City of Bayard Public Meeting

The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss and to solicit input on possible 2017 Colonias Infrastructure Fund Applications within the City of Bayard. A Colonia is defined as a rural community with a population of 25,000 or less that is located within 150 miles of the U.S. –Mexico border and that has been designated as a Colonia by the (municipality/county) due to: a lack of potable water; or a lack of adequate sewage systems; or a lack of decent, safe and sanitary housing; and have been in existence prior to November 1990. The Colonias Infrastructure Act (ACT) was adopted in 2010, establishing a Colonias Infrastructure Board and dedicating 5% of the State’s annual Senior Severance Tax Bond proceeds for a variety of infrastructure projects within the Colonias, including; Water, Wastewater, Solid Waste Disposal, Flood Control, Road or Housing projects.
