Tin Ornament Workshop at the Silver City Museum
Saturday, December 17, 2016, 12:00pm - 02:00pm |
Adults and children are welcome. Due to the sharpness of the metal, we recommend children ages 10+ attend, and with adult supervision. This workshop is free with a $5 suggested donation and registration is encouraged! Create your own ornaments using tin and aluminum, just in time for the holidays. Learn to emboss and color, while choosing from a variety of designs or make your own. Use them to decorate or for gifts! Tin work is a traditional New Mexican craft dating to the early 1800s. Primarily created for the church, it became a time-honored art that has extended from the church and into people’s homes and is iconic to New Mexican culture.
