WNMU Hybrid Commencement Ceremony
Friday, May 07, 2021, 02:00pm |
At Western New Mexico University, the individual members of the spring class of 2021 will get to choose how they celebrate their accomplishment. A hybrid commencement ceremony on Friday, May 7, will give graduates and guests the option of participating virtually or in person.
The outdoor ceremony will take place at Ben Altamirano Stadium, where capacity will be limited. Every graduate who opts to participate in the spring 2021 commencement ceremony in person gets to invite four people to be admitted to the stadium. An e-ticketing system will ensure graduates can provide entry documentation for the family members and friends of their choice.
For the in-person component, the university will closely follow the New Mexico Higher Education Department guidelines for commencement ceremonies and within the state’s revised Red to Green Framework. In addition to outlining strict expectations for in-person participants and guests, WNMU will be enforcing current public health orders and university protocols, requiring masks for everyone at all times and painting stadium seating areas to best promote social distancing.
WNMU graduates participating virtually will be represented on a large screen situated in Ben Altamirano Stadium, and each will be spotlighted for a few seconds, as has been the custom during the entirely virtual ceremonies of the past year.
This milestone event will be streamed live on Facebook and wnmu.edu.
Additional details about the WNMU spring 2021 hybrid commencement ceremony are available at commencement.wnmu.edu, where any updates will also be shared.
