"Artworks," with Zoe Wolfe at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City
Sunday, August 14, 2022, 10:00am |
Join local artist Zoe Wolfe on a journey of her work which she says celebrates our essential being. She will tell stories and share images of her art.
Poetic spirit describes the stories behind Wolfe’s sculptures. Working predominantly in clay, her art is provocative, and uniquely crafted, ranging in scale from intimate to installation.
Wolfe received her MFA from the University of Hawaii, and her BAs from San Francisco State University. While employed as an arts educator she has called many places home including Kathmandu, New York, and Israel. She came to Silver City in 1994 and continued her teaching career with students ranging in age from kindergarten to college. Currently she is a full-time artist.
Wolfe’s art has been widely exhibited. “I’m honored to have public art in our state, including the new wing at Western New Mexico’s University library,” she said.
Wolfe is involved in bringing art further into the community; her involvement includes working with The Clay festival, the Empty Bowls Fundraiser, the Youth Mural Program, and the Gila River Festival.
A historic downtown Silver City warehouse is home to Wolfe’s studio, showroom, and sculpture garden.
There are speakers on the patio if you wish to enjoy the service outside.
This Sunday there will be a Children’s Religious Education program. Parents are invited to bring children four years old and above to attend youth-led classes. Ninth grader Ivy Stephens-Etheridge, a former CRE student, will read a story and lead a lesson on the theme of “Music” this Sunday.
UUFSC Safety Protocol as pursuant to our most recent UUA Guidelines:
We will not be serving food or drinks in the building until further notice. Masks will still need to be worn at all times indoors and out, except when eating or drinking. We will continue to serve refreshments on the patio, weather permitting. Visitors are always welcome.
