"Creativity and the Supernatural: A Discussion,” at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
Sunday, October 09, 2022, 10:00am |
Are bursts of inspiration simply a product of the unconscious mind, or is there something magical involved?
Author Kris Neri will open a dialogue about the roots of the ideas that come to all of us, especially during any creative endeavor. Using her writing process as a basis, and the remarks of other authors, she’ll address her own spiritual exploration.
“Are the inspirations we all experience merely mechanical, a function of the way our minds work, or is there something supernatural, maybe even divine, about them?” Neri asked.
She will invite attendees to share their beliefs and welcomes challenges to what she presents. After the program, she will offer copies of her books for sale.
UUFSC member Kris Neri is a multi award-honored author of novels and short stories. She teaches writing for the Writers’ Program of the UCLA Extension School. Locally, she is also a member of the steering committee of the Southwest Word Fiesta, and one of the founding members of the Borderland Writers Co-op.
There are speakers on the patio if you wish to enjoy the service outside.
This Sunday there will be a Children’s Religious Education program. Parents are invited to bring children four years old and above to attend youth-led classes. Ninth grader Ivy Stephens-Etheridge, a former CRE student, will read a story and lead a lesson on the UU 1st Principle: The inherent worth and dignity of every person.
