Saturday, October 15, 2022, 07:00pm |
Nationally-acclaimed multi-instrumentalist folk duo, Mare Wakefield & Nomad, return to Silver City for a special concert on Saturday, October 15 at 7 pm, hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City. The concert will be held at the UU Fellowship Hall located at 3845 N. Swan Street in Silver City.
Based in Nashville, Mare and Nomad tirelessly perform throughout all of the United States, and Silver City has always been one of their favorite stops along their Southwest tour. This will be their first concert here in three years due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
They are finally touring in support of their 2021 album, No Remedy, which American Songwriter Magazine listed as one of its best albums of 2021. Prior to the lockdown, they were finalists at the Kerrville (Texas) Folk Festival and were showcased as emerging artists at the Falcon Ridge (Connecticut) Folk Festival.
“You’ll be astounded,” writes Maverick Magazine. “Featuring award-winning Texas songwriter Mare Wakefield on guitar and Turkish-born Nomad Ounce on piano and accordion, this husband-and-wife duo delights audiences with their mix of Americana, old-time country and contemporary folk.”
$15 admission at the door. A portion of the proceeds going to the UU Social Justice Committee to help fund its support of local food banks and homeless shelters, the Deming and Palomas shelters for refugees and asylum seekers, thank-you meals for COVID first responders, New Mexico women’s health and abortion centers, and much more.
