Eighteen studios with 21 artists will be opening up their private creative spaces from Wind Canyon to greater downtown Silver City and out to Hurley. The annual Labor Day Red Dot Studio Tour features the Silver City Art Association Studio members.
The event begins on August 21 with a preview art exhibit at Light Art Space, 209 West Broadway Street, Silver City NM. Stop by, see artwork from each studio, and pick up a Red Dot Studio Tour guide. For your convenience and tour planning, the guide is broken into two maps, "Outlying Studios" and "Greater Downtown Studios". The guide lists all participating at Light Art Space ng studios, description of each, directions and maps. Bright Red Dot signs will lead your way to each studio. The Studio Tour guides are also available at the Visitor Center and local galleries.
A "Meet the Artists" reception at Light Art Space kicks off the weekend, Friday night, August 29 from 5:00-7:00. Then follow the maps in your guide, Saturday and Sunday to see these unique creative studios. Along with seasoned SCAA studios several brand new studios are on this year's tour. Artists are represented in a diverse range of art forms- woodworking, basketry, fiber arts, painting, sculptures, photo illustration, pottery, clothing design and more! Imagination does not run short at these studios. A few studios may also offer garden tours and demonstrations.
