Both the wreath placement and Remembrance Ceremony for Wreaths Across America at Ft Bayard National Cemetery will take place Saturday morning, December 13.
Special request or grave specific wreath placements will occur at 9:;00 am. The remaining wreaths will not be placed until 9:30 am. Volunteers are invited to help with the 9:30 activity.
Following the wreath placement the annual Remembrance Ceremony will be held at 10:30. All are welcome and invited to attend this veterans' tribute when a printed program will be provided listing nearly 600 "In Memoriam" names as well as over 500 sponsors. This year's featured speaker is Becky Christmas, Past National President of American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. This champion of
veterans will have an interesting and meaningful message for all.
A location change due to current construction necessitates the Remembrance Ceremony's being held in the Committal Shelter rather than at the usual Rostrum site. The Committal Shelter is directly south across the drive from the Rostrum. Chairs will be added to the benches already available there to provide more seating for the ceremony.
As a safety precaution because of ongoing wreath distribution and empty cardboard box pickup by the wreath logistics crew on the narrow cemetery roads, NO vehicles will be allowed inside the gates util 9:50 am. However golf carts will be available for handicapped individuals with special request placements. Cooperation with changed parking areas and the event site is requested.
