Mission Statement
Put students first in every decision. Empower parents as true partners. Support teachers with what works. Restore trust through transparency and zero-tolerance for waste, favoritism, or closed-door dealings.
5-Point Agenda for Cobre Schools
1) Kids First: Raise results that matter
Focus on early literacy, math growth, graduation readiness, attendance, and safe campuses. Track and publish progress each quarter using the district's official report-card metrics so families can see movement, not just promises.
2) Parents Second: Real partnership, real access
Adopt a districtwide parent-engagement standard (clear communication timelines, family-friendly meeting times, and bilingual notices). Model on Title I best practices that require parents to help shape school plans—not just receive them.
3) Teachers Third: Support and stability, not burnout
Stabilize leadership and keep politics out of classrooms. Ensure fair, transparent pay structures and professional development tied to student outcomes; bring proposals to open session and publish comparisons before votes.
4) Integrity & Transparency: Sunlight is non-negotiable
Commit to on-time public posting of agendas, contracts, and check registers. Tighten IPRA response procedures and publish turnaround stats so families—and employees—aren't forced to sue for records.
5) A School System that Fits Cobre
Protect student programs amid funding uncertainties by scenario-budgeting in public and prioritizing classroom dollars. Respect local calendar needs while complying with statewide rules and court decisions. Champion Native and other at-risk students with measurable supports, aligned to the ongoing Yazzie/Martinez remedial plan.
Why I'm running
I'm running for the Cobre Consolidated Schools Board of Education, because our kids deserve a district that puts students first, treats parents as partners, and supports teachers with what works. I will demand transparent budgets and open records, publish progress on reading, math, attendance, and graduation every quarter, and bring parent engagement out of theory and into practice—family-friendly meeting times, bilingual notices, and real participation in school plans. I'll stabilize leadership and insist pay and training align with student success. And I'll face our challenges honestly—from funding uncertainties to statewide requirements—while protecting classroom time and services for our most at-risk students. It's time for a board that serves the public in the open and stays laser-focused on kids. Your consideration and vote is appreciated
