Eric Dominguez was found guilty by a Lordsburg jury for First Degree Criminal Sexual Penetration of a child.

Tuesday, April 8, 2025 I Sixth Judicial District Attorney Norman R. Wheeler announced today that Eric Dominguez, 33, was found guilty by a Lordsburg Jury of 1 count of Criminal Sexual Penetration [1st Degree], and 1 count of False Imprisonment [4th Degree]. This case was prosecuted by Deputy DA Gerald Byers and Chief Deputy DA Cynthia Clark. Sentencing for Dominguez will be held at a later date.

On May 16, 2023, A Hidalgo County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a Lordsburg Municipal School regarding a child victim who.reported a sexual assault by her mother's boyfriend.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Clark said that in May 2023 the then 10-year-old victim disclosed to her 4th grade teacher that Dominguez assaulted her at her mother's home. A forensic interview was conducted at the La Piñon office in Deming, New Mexico.   At the trial, testimony was given by a certified SANE [Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner] Dr. Shauna McCosh, Medical Director for SASS. who testified remotely from Indonesia where she is currently residing. The jury deliberated for 20 minutes.

"We take great care when dealing with such young victims of any type of crime, especially sex crimes. Our victims' advocates and legal prosecution team were a tremendous help with the victim and her legal guardians throughout the judicial process," District Attorney Wheeler said.
