Please be advised of an upcoming change to the fee for marriage licenses in New Mexico. Starting June 20, 2025, the fee will increase from $25.00 to $55.00.
This change is a result of Senate Bill 290 (SB 290), which was signed into law by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham on April 8, 2025.
For couples planning to marry, please note the following:
You can apply for a marriage license in person at the Grant County Clerk's Office, located at 1400 Highway 180 East, Silver City, NM. Our office hours for applications are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Both parties applying for the license must be present at the time of application.
Each party will need to present a valid state-issued I.D., driver's license, or passport.
