It is with deep sadness that the family of Harry Donald Kling of Lordsburg announces his passing on January 14, 2026 at the age of 83, in Las Cruces, NM.
Born May 5, 1942 in San Francisco, California, Harry was the beloved child of Donald Lester Kling and Jewel Evelyn Powers. He enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960-1964. He dedicated many years to working at the PNM powerplant in Lordsburg and later worked at the Playas smelter in Playas, NM. A passionate optimist and president of the local Lordsburg Optimist Club, he was responsible for coordinating many local optimist events, such as the youth shoots, law enforcement banquets, land sailing races, holiday food drives and annual toy drives for kids.
Harry Donald Kling is survived by daughter, Leslie and her husband, John Salazar-Lordsburg; daughter, Cathy Houston, her partner David Whipple, granddaughter, Kayla and her husband, Joseph-Las Cruces; grandson, Aaron and his fiancé, Ryan-Lordsburg; grandson, Jeremie and his wife, Brianna-El Paso Tx; granddaughter, Danica and her partner, Carlos-Lordsburg; great-grandson, Aiden-Las Cruces; great-grandson, Aaron Christopher-Lordsburg; great-granddaughter, Emmie-Las Cruces; great-grandson, Ryker-Lordsburg; great-granddaughter, Luna-Las Cruces; great-grandson, Luca-Las Cruces; great-grandson, Taylen-Lordsburg; and great-grandson, Beckett-El Paso Tx.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Lester Kling and Jewel Evelyn Powers; wife, Margret Gandara Kling, and stepmother, Rosetta Kling.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
