Jonni Anne McClure passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at the age of 68. A lifelong resident of Deming, New Mexico, Jonni's story began as a local milestone: she was the first girl born at the new Mimbres Memorial Hospital. Though she spent a few early childhood years in Mishawaka, Indiana, her heart, and life remained firmly planted in the Deming soil.
The daughter of William "Bill" and Patricia Boomhower, Jonni grew up working alongside her brother, Bill Jr., at the family's business, the Desert Inn Restaurant. Her early years at Bell Elementary sparked a lifelong gift for language, as she became fluent in Spanish—a skill that later allowed her to serve her community more deeply. Her time in the Deming High School choir ignited a passion for music; she possessed a beautiful voice and shared her gift through public performances throughout her life. It was also during her high school years that Jonni was an avid equestrian, training for and participating in gymkhanas as well as training and proudly showing her horse, Princess.
Jonni's professional legacy was defined by her compassion and intellect. After attending Eastern New Mexico University and New Mexico State University, she went on to earn her Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from the University of Phoenix. She founded her clinic, Hearing Health Care, in Deming, where she became a cornerstone of the medical community. For many years, she provided essential care to patients across Deming, Columbus, Silver City, and Las Cruces, taking immense pride in helping her patients thrive through better hearing.
For the past 30 years, Jonni was happily married to her devoted husband, John McClure III. Together, they were integral threads in the rich tapestry of the Deming community. Jonni was known for loving her friends with a rare ferocity and integrity, maintaining deep, lifelong bonds that she cherished above all else.
In a beautiful later chapter of her life, Jonni reunited with her biological father, Barclay Ewart. This reunion brought the gift of an extended family whose presence profoundly enriched her final years.
Jonni was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Boomhower; her biological father, Barclay Ewart; her brother, Jeffrey Boomhower; and her sister, Laura Ewart.
Jonni is survived by her husband, John McClure III; her children, Randi Leigh Morrow and Walter Alan Andrews Jr. (Mary-Ann McBride Andrews), both from her previous marriage to Walter Alan Andrews; and her stepson, Darin Kuhlmann (Stephanie). She is also survived by her father, William "Bill" Boomhower; her sisters, Christine Nixon, Jeanine Ewart, and Elizabeth Ewart (Dane Peralto); and her brothers, William "Bill" Boomhower Jr. (Beatrice) and Simon Cotter (Trudy). She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Harrison Kuhlmann (Kiki), Grace Kuhlmann, Brantley Morrow, and Hunter Morrow, whom she took great pride in calling her friends and confidants; as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends she called family.
Jonni's voice, her care for her patients, and her fierce love for her friends and family will continue to be felt in the community she loved so dearly. She remains a part of us. We love and miss you.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the fall of 2026. Details will be announced at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Mimbres Crematory.
