PorcherPatPat Porcher passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas.

A memorial service will be held for Pat and Bryan Porcher on January 23, 2026, 1pm at First United Methodist Church in Deming.

Pat was born on March 17, 1932 in Roswell, N.M. to Clarice Verhines Monk and Orly Monk. Her childhood was spent east of Roswell in the rock house with her 3 sisters and 1 brother.

In 1940 Pat's mother married Marvin A. Horton. He was a dad by heart to Pat and her siblings.

Pat attended Roswell schools through High School graduation. She then went to college at Mary Washington College in Virginia. When she returned to Roswell, she was employed by the NM State Highway Department. During this time she met a cadet at NMMI, Frank Bryan Porcher.

On June 4, 1952 she married her best friend and love of her life Frank Bryan Porcher.

They had 3 children, Frank Bryan, Joseph Allen and Phyllis Annette.

While Bryan served in the Army they lived in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Once he was discharged the couple moved to his family ranch south of Gage, NM. That is where Pat became a ranch wife/hand. There she learned that you did what was needed for humans and animals, and you cooked, a lot. Pat loved it.

In 1965 the family operation moved to the POL Ranch east of Columbus. There, Pat cooked the best meals, often for 10 or more people. Whether at the house or in a corral during branding, Pat provided a hot, tasty meal with a dessert. The Porchers love desserts and she provided them.

In 1973 the POL Ranch was sold. Pat and Bryan opened Bryan Porcher Real Estate. Pat sold many houses in and around Deming and she did it in dresses and heels. Many shopping trips to Las Cruces were to look for navy blue pumps to replace the ones she had ruined walking through rocks and gravel. She was faster in heels and could outlast even the grandkids in their tennis shoes. Every Christmas Pat and Bryan would host an Open House with all of Deming invited. Pat would bake lots of 3 layer cakes, cookies, and cinnamon rolls. She made candies, especially the family favorite, homemade caramel. All of this took months of preparation. Then the day before the Open House she and Bryan would cook the meats and breads. It was exhausting and Pat loved every minute of it. No one ever left hungry.

After retiring Pat continued to cook and spoil her family at holidays and special occasions. She passed on her cooking, baking and candy making skills to her family who she loved dearly.

Bryan survived Pat by 4 months and 9 days. They were married for 73 years.

Pat is survived by her children, Bryan Porcher II (Carole), Joe Porcher, and Phyllis Porcher Griffin (Brad).
