One of the themes that has been constant on the radio shows is that politicians believe we the people are stupid. I'm convinced that many of them believe this because when they are campaigning, they will tell us what we want to hear, such as cutting taxes, then they go off to Washington DC or the state capitol and do whatever they want. We then reelect them. This is probably true with a certain segment of our population who prove over and over again that they are stupid. Those that promote socialism would fall into that group.

Joe Biden has become one of the best examples of my hypothesis. He has lied to us more blatantly in the first nine months of his time in office than any other individual I can recall. He is like the Iraqi general who went on television to tell the world that United States forces were not in Baghdad, and the video showed American tanks driving behind him. Don't believe your lying eyes, listen to what I tell you.

This week Joe Biden said we needed to spend $5 trillion to get this economy going again or we were in danger of falling behind economically. That is not true in any way shape or form. He is motivated by wanting to spend $5 trillion for a variety of projects, most of which are worthless, harmful, or politically motivated in order to gain more control over us. Money is the ultimate tool that fuels a politicians power trip.

Just a month ago Biden was saying that this economy is rebounding fantastically because of his policies but now somehow we are falling behind? There are certainly storm clouds on the economic horizon such as inflation, the debt ceiling, and supply chain issues, but each one of these situations has been fueled by his policies. But the fact that he feels comfortable changing his story so quickly in order to accomplish a political objective tells you how little he thinks of the American people's ability to think consequentially.

This economic package is being driven by Bernie Sanders who wants us to be more like the European Union, at least his version of the EU. His version of the European Union has no bearing in reality. The majority of members of the union have high unemployment rates because of high taxes making it more expensive to hire someone. They also have overly protective rules for workers which makes it extremely difficult to fire those that are incompetent. They have high tax rates and would not be able to sustain their economic activity if it were not for the largess of the United States government with subsidies and other payments.

I believe it's the Netherlands that Bernie often points to as an example of how it can work. He claims that many of the institutions controlled by the government, such as transportation, work very efficiently and effectively. He is correct in his conclusion but the way they get to that point is very different than what he sees as the methodology. Whether it be the transportation division, the education division, or some other government controlled entity, each of those departments is expected to operate as an independent and individual business. There is no continually increasing payment from the government such as we have for operating Amtrak. These businesses are just that—businesses. They are expected to operate on the principles as any private business would operate and they do very well. I may have the country wrong because it's been a couple of years since I did some research on this, but the point is valid.

The truth is that this country was able to build the biggest economy the world has ever seen. It was stable and created wealth all across the spectrum. The largest middle class in the history of this world was created not by governmental control but by the people of the country. We the people took the risk to build businesses, to leave our homes and cross the frontier to take advantage of the opportunities presented to us. It was the American people that created businesses that hired others and those employees contributed to the success of this nation's economy just as much as the entrepreneurs. We did this without government oversight or control. All of the malarkey being spewed by people like Joe and Bernie is only about one thing: gaining more power for themselves.

They take advantage not of our stupidity but in some cases of our ignorance and in other cases of our lack of attention to what they are doing. We are a trusting people and we do not want to believe that anyone would lie to our face. Even if they have lied to us over and over there is a part of us that wants to believe that this time they are telling us the truth. And politicians take advantage of that. It's time to stop it. Vote them out!
