Probation:                     Six (6) month probationary period
Position Will Remain Open Until Filled

Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Assessor or other designated supervisor by the Assessor.
Research, document and manage the County GIS parcel fabric that serves as the County Ownership Map; including property title search to verify ownership of recorded documents. Work includes interacting with the general public, surveyors, title companies, real estate agents and government agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct title searches of recorded legal documents to ensure correct ownership.
  • Use ESRI Suite of products for mapping and managing County parcels.
  • Assist the general public to obtain accurate ownership and location of land parcels.
  • Perform work on special projects as directed by Assessor’s Office, including research and creating spread sheets of appraisal related data.
  • Assist Assessor’s Office with maps that are needed to complete the appraisal process.
  • Data entry of recorded documents and ownership change in Assessor’s program.
  • Perform back up duties when needed to include answering the phone and assisting the public with requested forms and questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Geography, GIS Certification and/or a combination of GIS Experience.
  • Two (2) years of verifiable experience in surveying, mapping, digital mapping or related field work.
  • Two (2) years of verifiable experience in working with legal descriptions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
  • Associates in GIS
  • NM IAAO Course Certifications
  • Background in mathematics
