Governor Must Take Action to Combat This Life-and-Death Crisis

Albuquerque, August 16—The Republican Party of New Mexico is urging Gov. Lujan Grisham to take immediate action and send New Mexico National Guard troops to the Southern border to stop the health crisis that has gotten out of control. The Governor continues to turn a blind eye to this deadly problem, which threatens more and more New Mexican lives each day.

The Governor refuses to act as more migrants infected with COVID enter our country. She is welcoming COVID to flourish in New Mexico while taking no action in what’s become a watershed moment.

The lack of action by Lujan Grisham speaks volumes to her administration that has refused to tackle the ongoing border health crisis while she forces children to put on masks at school with no true science behind such a decision.

Such idleness is embarrassing to our state and seems almost criminal—to allow migrants to swarm into New Mexico with COVID, with no background checks and with no masks. New Mexicans remain unprotected from the continual COVID pandemic that rages on.

Both Texas and Arizona governors have sent National Guard members to the border to help address this crisis. Lujan Grisham does nothing.

Washington’s border policies have created a historic border crisis, and our Governor seems satisfied to sit idle.

We are now on track for more than two million people who will cross illegally, will not be vaccinated and who will be distributed to your city. Biden’s catch and release policies are putting American lives at risk.

Biden’s border policies have led to a massive COVID superspreader, endangering lives in our nation.

Our communities are less safe.
• Deadly drugs are flooding over the porous border.
• More deadly fentanyl has been seized so far in 2021 than throughout all of 2020.
• Residents of border towns are scared to leave their homes due to soaring border crime.
• Human traffickers are taking advantage of the Biden-Harris open border policies.
• A surge of illegal migrants has resulted in a rise of border-related COVID cases.

This is a U.S. crisis critical to national security, but the Biden-Harris Administration and the Lujan Grisham Administration have failed miserably to address this issue. They do nothing.

The safety of our communities and our citizens in New Mexico is at stake.

“The Governor’s lack of action is accelerating this COVID superspreader that’s killing Americans,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “Our Governor has a duty to protect her citizens, and she has willingly allowed COVID-infected people from other countries to enter New Mexico. She must be held accountable. It’s unspeakable that she hasn’t done anything to address the crisis at our border. Our Governor must be aggressive to combat this alarming and deadly crisis.”

The Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) advances the ideals of individual liberties for the advancement of its citizens and the greater prosperity of our communities throughout New Mexico. Led by an Executive Board and its Chairman, former NM Congressman Steve Pearce, RPNM serves all New Mexicans via its headquarters in Albuquerque and can be contacted at (505) 298-3662.
