Lujan Grisham to Respond to Biden Energy Failure with Rebates

Albuquerque – Larry Behrens, Communications Director for Power The Future, issued the following statement about the 2022 New Mexico Special Legislative session:

"As she prepares to spend millions in oil and natural gas revenue, now is the time for Governor Lujan Grisham to stand up to the Biden Administration's failed energy policies. While President Biden blames energy workers for his failures, it's those same energy workers who generate billions in revenue that allow for Governor Lujan Grisham's spending. It's past time the Governor stand up for her state."

A recent study of New Mexicans found just how much skyrocketing energy prices are hurting families:

• More than 40% of New Mexicans couldn't pay their energy bills every month.

• Over 490,000 New Mexicans could not pay their energy bill at least once during the last year.

• 1 in 5 New Mexicans kept their home at an unsafe temperature because of concerns over energy costs. The • 20% in this category represented the highest percentage in the country.

• 30.6% of New Mexicans went without food or medicine in order to pay their energy bill. This percentage was the second-highest in the entire country.
