The October 7 Benefit Auction and Gala planned by the Silver City Rotary Club in partnership with First American Bank has been gaining support from a number of organizations. In addition to the primary sponsorship by First American Bank, lead sponsors now include Freeport McMoran, Holland America Lines, WNM Communications and the Silver City Daily Press. In addition, Gila Regional Medical Center has become a major sponsor.

A number of local restaurants have agreed to serve as Restaurant Sponsors. They will each provide samples of their signature dishes to Auction attendees. The list currently includes Diane’s Restaurant, Shevek’s Casuals Oh My!, Bear Mountain Lodge, and Vicki’s Eatery.

The Auction will benefit projects undertaken by LifeQuest, the Gila Valley Library, and the Silver City Gospel Mission. Members of these organizations and of the Silver City Rotary Club have been working to amass an impressive list of auction items, ranging from services such as golf or tennis lessons, to antique furniture, a Holland America Lines ocean cruise, and even a vintage Porsche 928.

Past auctions have brought a significant boost to each of their beneficiary organizations, and the Club hopes that this year’s effort will bring similar support to the sponsored projects:

LifeQuest is planning to use its Auction proceeds to purchase one or more used minivans to enhance their ability to provide early intervention services to children in Grant County with or at risk of having developmental delays.

The Gospel Mission will use its Auction proceeds to assist women and children who reside in Sierra House, their transitional housing unit, in moving to permanent housing.

And the Gila Valley Library is seeking to expand its children’s program area from 80 square feet to include an outside gazebo to accommodate the expanding children’s program.

The Rotary Club and the beneficiary organizations are hard at work to gather additional auction items and other forms of support. If you can help, please contact any member of the Rotary Club, call Francisca Reyes at (915) 276-2003, or contact the Club at info@silvercityrotary.org.

Tickets to the Auction, at $20 each, are now available from any member of the Rotary Club or they can be purchased online at the Rotary Club website, www.silvercityrotary.org.
