Fiesta Latina Brings International Culture to Silver City, NM

Silver City, NM – May 7, 2019 –Silver City is bringing international flair and culture to Silver City, New Mexico at Fiesta Latina. Known for its myriad of art galleries and eclectic charm, the town will host international artisans and entertainers at the event, running June 21–23 at Western New Mexico University.

“In Silver City, there’s much more than meets the eye, and we pride ourselves on being a small town with big culture,” said Alex Brown, Town of Silver City Manager. “With artists from around the world, a community that celebrates culture and diversity, and top-notch entertainers, Silver City is truly a must-see destination for artists and art lovers. Fiesta Latina is a collision of culture, art, entertainment, and interactive elements that delights all ages and captures the spirit of Silver City.”

The three-day festival runs Friday through Sunday and features the highlight event—the Artisan Mercado, showcasing works from 40 traditional artisans from Mexico. Additionally, the weekend is packed full of entertainment and live music, as well as documentaries on five visiting artists. Attendees can enjoy a lively opening night dance, as well as tequila tastings, authentic Mexican food, activities for children, and demonstrations.

For those looking to take home more than a souvenir from their trip, there are opportunities to learn a new skill through interactive weaving, dyeing, and textile workshops.

“Rather than simply seeing sights while on vacation, a visit to Silver City during Fiesta Latina is an opportunity to immerse yourself into a new culture and learn new artistic skills,” added Brown. “As a true experiential destination, attending Fiesta Latina will provide invigoration and enlightenment, as well memories that will last a lifetime.”

In addition to incredible cultural experiences, Silver City is an artist’s and art lover’s mecca, featuring over 30 unique art galleries in the historic and scenic downtown district with art from across the globe.
