The Kiwanis Club of Silver City is hosting their first ever “Free Drive-thru Kids Easter Eggstravaganza” on Saturday, April 3 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business & Conference Center - 3031 Hwy 180 E. (next to Ace Hardware). Gather up the kids and drive-thru for one free Easter Goodie Bag per child in the vehicle, while supplies last. Wave to the Easter Bunny and "Friends" that include local favorites: Darren & Dora the D.A.R.E Lions, Scruff McGruff the Crime Dog, Rawhide the WNMU Mustang, Sparky the Fire Dog, and of course, Smokey Bear! For your safety and convenience, this is strictly a Drive-thru event, please try to enter from the 32nd Street Bypass Road location. COVID-19 safety precautions will be practiced, please wear your masks and remain in your vehicle. In addition, please watch for signs and cones to guide you through the process. Scan the QR Code at the event to enter a free drawing for one of 2 Grand Prize Easter Baskets sponsored by Carson Insurance Agency. Enter the Kiwanis Family Easter Themed Photo Contest for a chance to win a Special Prize Easter Basket sponsored by First Savings Bank! Be creative and take an Easter themed photo of your family and email it by Thursday, April 1 to kiwanisclubofsilvercity@gmail.com. A winner will be chosen from the photos received. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club of Silver City was charted on August 8, 1946, and has remained an active group of local volunteers, striving to serve the youth of Grant County through many leadership programs that include: Terrific Kids in 9 elementary schools; Builders Club in two middle schools; Key Club in 3 high schools; and CKI at WNMU. Members of the WNMU CKI club are taking part in the Easter Eggstravaganza and will be helping during the event.
