Robert “Bob” Rhodes, 85, a resident of Deming, NM

Robert “Bob” Rhodes, 85, passed away Friday March 15, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer in Deming, New Mexico.
He was born February 8, 1939 in Kansas City, Kansas to Ruth and O.G. Rhodes. Bob grew up in Bonner Springs, Kansas where he attended Rural High School. He played basketball for the Braves and graduated in 1957. Bob entered the Navy on February 13, 1958 and went into the reserves in 1962 and left the Navy in 1964. Bob loved being a cowboy. He enjoyed working with horses in his early years. He helped with 4-H and ran the Spotted R Ranch. Upon retirement from FAA and horse ranching he moved to Deming, New Mexico in 1989. He wanted warmer weather and fewer people than the front range of Colorado. He and his wife Dee took up the hobby of silversmithing beautiful silver and turquoise jewelry. They loved traveling around and doing trade shows to sell their jewelry. Bob had a love for his kids. They always held a special place in his life. You could always count on seeing Bob with a hat on his head and cowboy boots on his feet.

Xavier Enriquez Gutierrez Jr, passed away to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, TX.
Mass of the Christian burial will be on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 12 o’clock in the afternoon at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. The rite of committal and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Officiating will be Fr. Francis Gyau.
Xavier was born March 14, 2024 to Rubi E. Gutierrez and Xavier E. Gutierrez in El Paso, TX.

David Cruz Murillo, 76, of Silver City passed away March 14, 2024 in Las Cruces, NM surrounded by his family.
At David’s request, cremation will take place. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at Ten o’clock in the morning Saturday, March 23, 2024 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church led by Deacon Bill Holguin. The Funeral Liturgy will follow immediately thereafter. Inurnment of his ashes will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery, where he will laid to rest in the family plot. Officiating will be Father Oliver Obele
David was born November 25, 1947 in Silver City to Espiredon “Espire” and Inocencia “Chencha” Murillo. David earned his Masters Degree in Special Education from Western New Mexico University. He had worked at El Grito HeadStart and Alamo Indian Reservation, retiring from Alamo. David was a Franciscan Brother right after high school. He had also served as a Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus. David had also spent much time volunteering for the St. Vincent Food Pantry. When David wasn’t working, he enjoyed camping, and fishing, He loved cooking for his family and for the holidays, as well as for bingo and the food pantry. David spent many years taking care of his parents and will be missed tremendously by his family and all who knew and loved him.

Arturo Felix Morones, 90, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Friday, March 8, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 9, 1933 in Tyrone, NM to Felix Morones and Carmen Alvarez Morones.
He attended Western High School (now Silver High School). He played football, basketball and baseball. He worked at Phelps Dodge, Kennecott, previously known as Chino Mines as a truck driver. He taught himself to do plumbing, electrical work and some construction. He added rooms to the small house in Arizona St. He enjoyed watching all sports, reading newspapers, fishing, camping, and hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Anita (Medran) Morones, two sons, Arthur M. Morones and wife Chris; Edward J. Morones; one daughter, Martha (Marty) Dudley; grandchildren, Michael Morones, Toni (Morones) Esparza, Arturo Morones III, Michelle Dudley White, Marissa Dudley Love, Edward Morones, Stacey (Morones) Watt, Deandra Morones, and Patrick Morones; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one brother, Emilio Morones; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ruben, Carlos, and Frank Morones; sisters, Elvira Arredondo, and Lorenza Martinez.

Josephine Gonzales Rodriguez, 84, lifelong resident of Deming entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at her home.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 5 to 7 o’clock in the evening at Baca’s Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held the following day Friday March 22, 2024 at 11 o’clock in the morning at Mountain View Cemetery. Pastor Tony Guerrero will officiate. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
Josephine was born December 15, 1939 in Deming, New Mexico to Ernest Valverde and Reynalda Gonzales. She met and married Rodolfo E. Rodriguez and together raised their 4 children. Josephine will be remembered in many ways but more people will remember her by her unconditional love and help for others. She was very unselfish and looked forward to helping people in any way she could. She would pray for people and always offered them good advice.
