On Monday evening there was a special dance performance at the Fine Arts Center, preceded by a brief lecture by Dr. Felipe de Ortego y Gasca, WNMU Scholar in Residence. Dr. Ortego's presentation addressed the differences between Halloween and Day of the Dead. The dance performance was by the Compania de Danza Folkclorica de la Universidad Autonoma de Cuidad Juarez, Mexico. Musical accompaniment for the dance group was by the Mariachi Canto a Mi Tierra. The evening's presentations were part of the ongoing Dias de los Muertos related events in Silver City.
