David Billings is the new volunteer coordinator at the Silver City Museum. He is actively looking for local groups, meetings and organizations that would allow him to come and give a presentation regarding current Museum events, activities, new exhibits, as well as speak about the volunteer program. There are fun activities for children, fascinating exhibits, and interesting events coming up at the museum.
There are many exciting volunteer opportunities at the Silver City Museum. A volunteer can help in a variety of interesting and fulfilling capacities such as Front Desk Greeter. This position meets and welcomes new visitors from all over the US and other countries! Additionally, the front desk greeter is an ambassador for the town of Silver City and a representative of the Silver City Museum.
Another position is Museum Store Volunteer. This person meets and greets all visitors to the museum store, operates the cash register, and answers questions about the merchandise.
Other exciting volunteer opportunities include working with collections in order to assist the museum curators in researching, designing and installing new exhibit projects. We have researchers that work in the archives to answer questions from all over the county. Spark an interest in learning - there are many children’s activities and events that need volunteers as well.
