Last Friday we had Amy Wagner from El Refugio come in to discuss their services. El Refugio operates a Shelter for battered women and their children. Temporary shelter is provided for up to 90 days with 30 day reviews. Safety and security are provided along with case management services and educational programs.

School starts today, so please drive carefully. I talked to Pastor Eng and it is with great pleasure that he informed me that the Mid and High-Schoolers from Calvary Christian Academy will once again be cooking lunches in the soup kitchen as part of their volunteer service program this year. Their smiling faces and help are always greatly appreciated by our guests.

We also are planning a work day for the women’s shelter on Saturday, Aug 17th from 10 am-2 pm. On the agenda are painting and a deep cleaning. Call the Mission at 388-5071 and ask for Randy if you are interested in helping.

And a big thank you to so many who are bringing in fresh produce from their gardens – we are blessed indeed this year!
