This Sunday, August 18, from 12 to 6:00 pm, kick up your heels and dance or sit back with a cold one while you listen to the music of The Illusion Band who are helping Puppy Dog celebrate over 170 rescues and adoptions and four years of being the only no-kill, no-cage dog rescue and sanctuary within 125 miles of Silver City.

Puppy Dog Ranch is a non-profit organization that is run entirely by volunteers and whose mission is to reduce the number of homeless dogs in Grant County and to ensure that the dogs they rescue are placed in safe and loving homes. Fundraisers such as the upcoming Tex-Mex BBQ are a way to offer the public a day of fun while raising money to help offset the costs of housing, feeding and providing medical care to the dogs they rescue.

People attending the BBQ can enjoy covered seating, beautiful views, a 1/2 mile walking trail, live music, delicious food, and the PDR Re-Tail Booth where there will be dog related items, gifts for dog lovers, a full line of dog greeting cards and our 'tastefully tasteless' t-shirts for sale, dog houses and fenced dog runs for sale. Or they can bid on an item or two in the Silent Auction Booth, find great deals in the Yard Sale Booth, hang out at our Canine Cantina for a cold one and $2 Taco or just visit the dogs. An “arresting” way for attendees to have fun while raising money for PDR, is having a friend arrested by Sheriff Shaggy and his Deputy Dawgs for $1. While eating, dancing and listening to music, people can see their family members and friends go to jail for crimes such as "sleeps with the dog" or "secretly sniffs kitty litter!”

Throughout the day there will also be Golf Putting and Chipping competitions and a 50/50 cash raffle.

PDR’s now well-known Tex-Mex smoked meats, homemade bbq sauces and sides will be for sale in the Cafe, including 18-hour smoked brisket; smoked pulled pork, chili con carne (simmered with 5 assorted chiles, chorizo and beef); chili dogs; Tacos and Taco Bar; Texas baked beans; homemade sides like potato salad, baked macaroni and cheese; cole slaw, delectable desserts and a fix-in's bar that includes an assortment of homemade BBQ sauces and hot dog fixin's.

If you would like to order CARRY OUT, this is available on this day only. Food orders for one person or for groups up to 20 are available for pick up by calling Laurie at 575-313-7232 before Sunday. Pick up will be available between noon and 6 pm Sunday.
