The Grant County Democratic Party is cancelling our Car Parade, and all the routes; Ft Bayard Medical Center, Santa Clara and Bayard. Apologies for any inconveniences this may cause.

Yesterday, NM Governor Michele Lujan Grisham held a COVID-19 briefing and is limiting gathering to only 5 people. Parades, Car Parades are cancelled, along with all other 4th of July events.

As New Mexicans and Grant County Residents, let's get our numbers back down and practice safe distance, wear masks and stay home. This way we can return to having our events.

Have a safe 4th of July!

Original Post:

The Grant County Democratic Party will be having a car parade on the 4th of July through Ft. Bayard and continuing through Santa Clara and Bayard. Let's decorate our cars for a Patriotic 4th of July and cheer the residents of Ft. Bayard. Much thanks to Frances Gonzales for arranging the Santa Clara and Bayard portion of the parade.

The parade will begin at 10:00 am. We will be lining up beginning at 9:00 at the Old Ft. Bayard road. It will be first come first serve. We will be opening this to anyone who wants to participate, just be aware that the Grant County Democratic Party will be headlining this parade.

The town of Silver City will be having a virtual parade this year, so we thought that this would be an excellent opportunity to highlight our Ft. Bayard residents and the mining district.  Law enforcement of Santa Clara and Bayard are on board and we will be making sure that our parade is safe.

PARADE ROUTE

The car parade route will begin lining up on the old Ft Bayard Route, drive to the Ft Bayard Medical Center, then exit the FBMC and proceed down the road driving across Highway 180 into Santa Clara, as the Santa Clara PD will be conducting traffic control.  The car parade will proceed thru Bayard St, the main road and then turn left at the four way stop sign and proceed along the street as it curves thru Santa Clara going to Bayard.

The Bayard PD will be controlling traffic as the parade goes into Bayard East on Tom Foy Blvd and drive South, make a U-Turn in front of the Snappy Mart & proceed driving North on Tom Foy Blvd ending at the Cobre High Scool Parking lot.

If parade supporters are parked watching the parade, please wear a mask & practice social distancing following COVID-19 CDC Practices.
