Weather permitting, the Silver City Friends of the Library’s (FOL)  Bookstore and Parking Lot Book Sale will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 10:00am-2:00pm, at 1510 Market Street across from Cheyenne Street.  The sale is open to the public, free of charge. Come and enjoy browsing the stacks and finding treasures, all while supporting the Silver City Public Library.

“The FOL book sales always offer intriguing and surprise finds, and this sale is no exception,” said Barbara Guber, FOL Bookstore manager. “Out in the Parking Lot sale, visitors will find tables filled with treasures among which are:

  • Vintage books and magazines and even newspaper front pages
  • Workbooks, dictionaries, and CDs for learning a new language including Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Czech, Spanish and German
  • Several boxes of books written in German
  • Books on religion and spiritualism
  • Self-help books for personal relationships
  • Nonfiction audio books

Parking Lot sale visitors are provided with FOL bags that they can fill for $2.00 per bag and there is no limit on the number of bags a person can purchase.”

“Lots of new stock appear on all the book shelves inside the Bookstore, and the music CD and audio books sections also contain new donations,” said an FOL spokesperson “Our prices on all items inside the Bookstore are set low so that everyone can find something to take home and enjoy. Hardbacks and large paperbacks sell for $1.00, small paperbacks for $0.50. Some unique items are priced separately. The children’s and adolescent’s book room is full and at even lower pricing.”

Customer parking is available street-side only because of space issues in the parking lot. FOL volunteers will be available to assist visitors in carrying their purchases to their cars.

Funds from FOL book sales go to the Silver City Public Library to support its programs and activities which serve our whole community and enhance its quality of life.

Book donations can be placed in the Friends of the Library donation bins outside the Silver City Library main door. These are located to the right of the Library’s bin for returning library books. For further information regarding donations in general or for arranging pickup for large donations, please contact folsilvercitynm@gmail.com or call 575-538-4940.

“Spring is just around the corner and, in anticipation of the longer days meant just for reading good books, what better way is there to spend a beautiful morning than wandering through shelves and tables of enticing and affordable books.” Guber said.
