ROAD ADVISORY:

LANE CLOSURE – Silver City/Pinos Altos

NM 15 will have a mobile street sweeping operation from milepost 0 to 25(NM35 intersection) in preparation for the Tour of the Gila.  Motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and be cautious of personnel and equipment in the area. The closure will be lifted at approximately 5 p.m.

Free film screening this Wednesday, April 10th at 7 pm at the Silco Theatre.

A 15 minute documentary on the life and art of Silver City's own Toney Chavez. A short, live music intro precedes the film by local filmmakers Maximiliano Nealon and Nathan Stueve.

Senator Martin Heinrich and former Senator Tom Udall first introduced M.H. Salmon Greater Gila Wild and Scenic Rivers Act named after the late. legendary defender of a wild Gila River, in May 2020. The bill will need to be passed out of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee before it heads to the Senate floor for a full vote of passage.

Description

This weekend class would be given over two days, four and a half hours each day, for a total of nine hours. The goal of creating a weekend class with limited hours and one completed project at the end is to allow for the possibility of craft tourism.

The project offered here is to make a simple bezel set ring in silver. The skills utilized will be the basics of hand fabrication, soldering, and bezel stone setting. By allowing students to choose their own cabochon, as well as create unique textures on their rings each student will end the class with a one of a kind finished project and an understanding of some of the basics of hand fabricating with metal.

Caller advised an employee taking money from the safe/that employee will be working at 2 p.m./caller has video footage.

Paving is the last step before project completion

SILVER CITY, NM, April 4, 2024 – The contractor working for Federal Highways Administration plans to pave the Catwalk Access Road, New Mexico Highway 174 next week. Heavy truck traffic into and out of the site should be expected from Monday, April 8 through Saturday, April 13.

Travelers along the roadway this week should expect delays. The narrow roadway leaves little room for traffic alongside of heavy equipment. Please travel slowly and yield to large vehicles. The Gila National Forest, Federal Highway Administration, and the project contractor appreciate the public's patience while this last phase of the project is completed. After paving, project partners will conduct a final inspection walk-through before the end of April.

Caller advised her 37-year-old bipolar and schizophrenic brother has been upset about caller's son committing suicide eight months ago/believes he may have committed suicide. Caller called back advising he just showed up/no LE needed.

Advised she wrecked her car/she is on the side of the roadway/she slid on the road with mud/negative on injuries/silver Jeep Compass. Caller called back advising her 8-year-old sister is complaining of shoulder pain down to her fingers. Caller advised her dad is there now. GEMS – no responders.

Elderly male wrecked his grey Jeep yesterday/male is out of vehicle and the right front tire is severely damaged/male fell down and collapsed/unknown injuries. Caller was not involved in the accident/had to drive to get service to call in/the patient was just cold advising he had been out ther . . .
