Guadalupe Montessori School Fall Festival FUNdraiser Slated for Saturday, November 4
Carnival games, cake walk, face painting
Silver City, NM – The Guadalupe Montessori School is holding its third annual Fall Festival FUNdraiser on Saturday, November 4, from noon to 4 p.m.
Benefitting the small, not for profit private school serving children from 18 months through 12 years, the event features carnival games, hayrides, face painting, and cute animals to pet and pose with. The renowned Guadalupe Montessori School kitchen will dish up seasonal food and drink. A bake walk will provide lucky participants with treats to either enjoy at the festival or take home.

Man appears to be having an episode/he is in his truck staring off into space/he appears unable to communicate/was previously involved in a minor accident in the parking lot of Foxworth-Galbraith/he is now yelling to himself. Officer had contact with caller and driver/request ambulance.
Nonviolent Communication Weekend Workshop Offered

A training in nonviolent communication will be held the weekend of November 3 – 5 in Silver City, according to a news release issued by the Silver City Food Co-op and Lotus Center. The training will follow the principles set forth in the book Nonviolent Communication, A Language of Life by psychologist Marshall Rosenberg.
The timing of the workshop offering is ideal, says Karen Starz, a certified nonviolent communication trainer, and president of New Mexico Network for Nonviolent Communication.
“For many of us, our world feels more volatile than ever,” says Starz. “Political, social, and economic conditions and dialog seem intense and polarized like never before. Many of us wonder what we, individually, can do to bridge the gap of our wide-ranging views and to invite more civil exchanges. Now more than ever, our communities need nonviolent communication.”

Silver City Museum Hosts Dia de Los Muertos Celebration

Los Hermanos Ruiz - the brothers José Manuel (left) and Roberto Abraham Ruiz Salazar of Netzahualcoyutl, Mexico - are the featured artisans at the Silver City Museum's celebration of Dia de los Muertos, the Mexican tradition of honoring loved ones who've died.Silver City -- Sunday, October 29, the Silver City Museum is hosting a community celebration of Dia de Los Muertos or Day of the Dead to honor loved ones who've passed on, featuring the brothers José Manuel and Roberto Abraham Ruiz Salazar, internationally acclaimed artisans from Netzahualcoyutl, Mexico, who create incredibly detailed, miniature bone carvings, which reflect timely themes of death, revolution and transformation. The celebration begins at noon and concludes at 5:00 pm, and includes the annual "people-powered" Dia de los Muertos parade, which starts at 3:30 pm from the intersection of Pope Street and College Avenue, ending at the museum.

As many of you are aware, we are approaching the sad anniversary of the loss of our friends Martyn Pearson and Alex Olsen. For so many of you, they are in your thoughts daily, and even hourly.
Just recently, the Patrina Foundation, which is focused on improving the lives of girls through programs like dance, art therapy, music programs, and housing support, offered a match for the Alex Olsen & Martyn Pearson Memorial fund. Most of that match has been met, and there is just another $11,000 needed to fulfill the match goal by mid-November. Alex sat on the Board of Directors of the Patrina Foundation.
