Albuquerque, NM – Learn about creatures of the air at the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park on August 3, 2013 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Programs will feature the birds, dragonflies, and butterflies of New Mexico through booths, tours, hands-on bird banding, and lectures.
“This is the 19th annual Summer Wings festival,” says Park Superintendent, Beth Dillingham. “We are so excited to have a variety of presenters and live demonstrations. This is a fun and educational event for the whole family.”
The schedule of events for August 3 includes:
8:00 AM – Guided Bird Walk
8:30 AM – Tour of Grassland Restoration Project, Central NM Audubon
9:00 – 11:00 AM – Hummingbird Banding, Bill Talbot
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM – Booths and Tables
o Bird Identification, Central NM Audubon
o Live Birds, Wildlife Rescue
o Bosque Bits Table
o Raffle of Sandhill Crane Painting by Judith Roderick
· 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM – Dragonfly Talk and Fieldtrip, Karen Gaines
· 1:00 PM – The Life of the Butterfly,Tatia Veltkamp
· 2:00 PM – Hummingbird Talk, Bill Talbot
