UPDATE - Railroad Crossing Maintenance for
Southern New Mexico
Las Cruces, NM
Las Cruces: The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) with BNSF Railway will recommence their maintenance operations on repairs scheduled for various routes in southern New Mexico. These operations will require full closures to be placed, which will impact motorists.
Traffic Alert:
· During the week of August 12, the BNSF will be repairing several railroad crossings throughout the City of Las Cruces. The traveling public may encounter various cross streets closed, please follow detours that are posted.
· Monday August 19, 2013 at 6:00 a.m. the NMDOT will mobilize their traffic control over to NM-373/Union Road, which will allow BNSF to continue rail repairs. A FULL closure will be in place with limited access granted to local residents and businesses. Motorists will be advised to seek an alternate route until this closure is lifted at the end of business on Friday August 23rd.
These routes will be CLOSED as work progress with BNSF repairing rail along the intersections and the NMDOT with make the necessary pavement repairs adjacent to the rail in order to secure a safe environment for the public.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid these areas until the work zones are cleared. Please note that these closures cannot be removed until work is completed as roadway will be dissembled. Traffic control will be posted alerting motorists of detours.
